AESC is looking to add an Associate General Counsel to our team in Murfreesboro, TN.

About the Role

As the Associate General Counsel at AESC, you will play a key role in shaping the legal structure and supporting the company’s growth and compliance.

What You Will Do
  • Legal Strategy and Structure
    • Collaborate with the General Counsel and other legal leaders to develop the foundational structures for a robust legal function.
    • Establish processes and procedures for managing legal projects and daily operations to ensure efficiency and compliance.
  • Contract Drafting & Negotiation
    • Serve as a primary legal advisor to review, draft, and negotiate key commercial agreements.
    • Ensure all contracts comply with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Compliance and Risk Management
    • Provide counsel on legal and regulatory compliance issues.
    • Identify and creatively solve legal and contractual risks.
  • Project Management and Leadership
    • Lead large‑scale legal projects and supervise/mentor junior legal professionals.
  • Process Improvement
    • Implement scalable contracting processes to streamline the legal function.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to provide legal guidance.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
What You Need
  • Educational Background
    • J.D. from an ABA‑accredited law school.
    • Member in good standing of a state bar.
  • Experience
    • At least 5 years of legal experience in a law firm, in‑house legal department, or equivalent setting.
    • Extensive experience in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating commercial agreements.
  • Skills
    • Strong organizational, analytical, and drafting skills.
    • Independent work, problem‑solving, proactive approach.
    • Exceptional communication skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks.
    • Knowledge of IATF
      16949, VDA 6.3, ISO
      14001 standards (training provided).

  • Leadership Experience
    • Prior experience managing junior legal professionals.
  • Industry Knowledge
    • Experience in energy, manufacturing, or technology sectors.
  • Project Management
    • Success managing large‑scale legal projects.

Travel

Occasional domestic and international travel required.
