Municipal Equipment, Inc. (MEI) is seeking an experienced Service Manager to lead daily service operations at our Murfreesboro, Tennessee facility. This role is ideal for someone with strong leadership, organizational, and technical skills who thrives in a hands‑on environment. You’ll oversee shop operations, coordinate technicians, ensure quality standards, and deliver exceptional customer service while fostering continuous improvement.
Key ResponsibilitiesDispatch technicians and balance daily workload to meet customer needs and timelines.
Assist in the shop alongside technicians as needed to ensure work is completed efficiently and accurately.
Perform initial diagnosis of repairs for parts ordering and prioritization of work.
Train and mentor new technicians, promoting safety and quality workmanship.
Work closely with other location Service Managers to share best practices and drive continuous improvement.
Work Orders, Quality & Systems
Track work orders, input data into the company’s service system, and maintain detailed records.
Coordinate with the Parts Department on job preparation and inventory needs.
Check final quality of completed jobs to ensure all repairs meet MEI’s standards.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
Utilize Windows-based computer systems for tracking, reporting, and communication.
Customer Service & Communication
Assist customers by phone with job updates, scheduling, and service recommendations.
Partner with internal teams—including Parts, Sales, and Administration—to ensure smooth communication and customer satisfaction.
Provide leadership with updates on progress, service trends, and process improvements.
QualificationsExperience in service management or a lead technician role within the heavy equipment, municipal, or fleet industry.
Strong skills in dispatching, scheduling, and workflow management.
Proven ability to diagnose mechanical issues and assist technicians when needed.
Proficient with Windows-based computer systems; experience with work order software a plus.
Must have own tools, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
CDL is a plus.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
