Asphalt Plant Groundman

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of our asphalt plant. Additionally, you will perform various manual tasks to support the efficient functioning of the plant. This position requires a strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work effectively in different weather conditions.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct regular maintenance and service on the asphalt plant to ensure its optimal performance.
• Grease and lubricate the plant components to keep them working efficiently.
• Monitor and maintain proper oil levels in the plant equipment.
• Perform minor repairs and servicing of the plant as needed.
• Operate the asphalt plant and loader effectively and safely.
• Perform ground maintenance tasks to keep the plant and yard clean and organized.
• Assist with shoveling, sweeping, steam cleaning, painting, tire work, mechanical tasks, lifting, pushing, pulling, and raking.
• Complete other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements:

• Basic maintenance and service skills for asphalt plant operations.
• The ability to weld and use a cutting torch is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to clean and maintain the plant and yard on a daily basis.
• Knowledge of lubrication and greasing techniques to keep the plant in optimal condition.
• Familiarity with maintaining proper oil levels in plant equipment.
• Experience operating an asphalt plant and loader safely and efficiently.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in varying weather conditions.
• Willingness to work in wet and/or humid conditions, around moving mechanical parts, and in extreme cold and/or heat.
• Strong physical stamina and the ability to stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms above shoulder level.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required.

The posted salary or pay compensation ranges are approximate and dependent on applicable experience and qualifications. Upper ranges are flexible.
