Job Summary and Qualifications
The Emergency Room Float Pool Nurse performs direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act.
The RNutilizestherapeutic communication in daily practice,maintainsa safe therapeutic environment, andidentifiesnursing problems as they relate to the individual needs of the patient.
This rolealsoplans individualized patient care whileutilizingan interdisciplinary approach,participates in performance improvement activities, provides care,and coordinates participation that fosters the goals of the hospital’s mission and vision statement.
When acting inthechargenurserole,RNsare responsible forday-to-day activities to ensure the delivery of quality patient care in a therapeutic environment.
Make staff assignments based on patient need,acuityand the skill of the staff. Serve as role models and clinical resource for the staff.
Respond in a timely manner to requests for information or follow-up with physician, staff or patient issues.
What you will do in this role:
- Assess plans and evaluate thepatientscare needs and will carry out physician orders.
- Administer prescribed medications, changesdressings, cleanswounds, monitors vital signs.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.
- Instruct and educate patients and families as part of partof a Multidisciplinary Care Planning team.
What qualifications you will need:
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing required
- Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) with the Tennessee Board of Nursing or compact state required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 6 months of hire
- 2 years of clinical nursing experience in an emergency room is required
