Maintenance Technician

Brief Description

The Maintenance Technician position is a full-time role reporting to the Value Stream Manager. The Technician must be able to identify and repair mechanical, electrical, and setup issues, recognize unsafe or dangerous conditions and take corrective action, stay current with relevant technologies, and perform machine and building repairs, modifications, enhancements, installations, and preventative maintenance to sustain maximum operating efficiency.

• Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical problems with production, quality, and inspection equipment.
• Quickly isolate problems and identify causes.
• Utilize proper lock‑out tag‑out procedures.
• Determine permanent corrective actions and implement them.
• Interpret electrical and mechanical drawings to identify parts needed for repair, moving, positioning, and commissioning of equipment.
• Read a layout blueprint and position a machine accordingly, following all applicable OSHA, MIOSHA safety rules and building codes.
• Apply workflow and 5S principles to spot problems that may adversely affect these principles when placing machinery.
• Acquire licenses for equipment needed for moving machinery (lift truck, man‑lift, articulating lifts, cranes, etc.) and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assess mechanical feasibility of continuous improvement suggestions.
• Modify machines to implement improvements, including fabricating minor parts, guards, and other items as necessary.
• Operate basic machines (welder, torches, mill, drill press, bandsaw, etc.) to fabricate parts.
• Perform basic machine building and troubleshooting functions; repair and rebuild basic machine parts.
• Apply knowledge of basic machine principles to repair/rebuild valves, cylinders, pumps, clutches, etc.
• Diagnose building problems and make occasional minor repairs in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, flooring, carpentry, drywall, exterior structure, and appliance areas.
• Remain current with new technologies that directly apply to productivity and quality instruments used in the role.

• Knowledge of basic machine principles necessary to repair/rebuild valves, cylinders, pumps, clutches, etc.
• Experience with 5‑axis, multi‑axis, and CNC equipment.
• Machine tooling repairs experience.
• Electrical alignment experience.
• Mechanical repair experience.
• PLC experience is a plus.
• Robotic experience is a plus.
• Programming and troubleshooting experience.
• Ability to work safely and well in a group environment moving heavy machinery.
• Flexibility and adaptability to a growing and changing high‑demand environment.
• Capacity to make repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms in hard‑to‑reach places.
• Familiarity with and practice of all required safety practices associated with performance of duties.
• Recognition of unsafe or dangerous conditions and implementation of corrective measures.
• Ability to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in uncomfortable positions; frequently lift, carry, and set up parts and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, and occasionally over 50 pounds.

• Minimum high‑school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum two years of maintenance experience.
• Electrical experience.
• Electrical troubleshooting experience.
