RN Med Surg

The Registered Nurse will provide skilled nursing care on a blended Medical/Surgical unit including Swing Bed and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) patients. The nurse will manage patient assignments based on workload and acuity, ensuring high-quality care in a supportive, team-oriented environment. This role requires strong clinical skills, effective communication, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams. The position supports a positive workplace culture with shared decision-making and committee involvement.

• Provide nursing care to Medical/Surgical, Swing Bed, and PCU patients according to their level of acuity.
• Manage patient assignments with ratios of 1:5 for Med/Surg, 1:5-6 for Swing Bed, and 1:3-4 for PCU depending on patient needs, including drip management.
• Perform patient assessments, medication administration, treatment planning, and documentation.
• Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Participate in unit committees and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
• Adhere to hospital policies and procedures to maintain patient safety and quality standards.

• Current Illinois Registered Nurse license.
• Current CPR/BLS certification.
• At least 2 years of nursing experience in hospital, home health, or hospice care.
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field preferred.

• Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, NRP, or specialty area certifications related to ICU, PCU, Cardiac Care, Emergency Room, or Operating Room.
• Experience with Progressive Care Unit and Swing Bed programs.
• Familiarity with Pathways to Excellence standards and quality improvement processes.

• Night shift position from 7 PM to 7 AM.
• Work every other holiday and every other weekend.
• No on-call responsibilities.
