Summary Of

Job Duties And Responsibilities

Murray State University seeks an innovative Provost & Vice President for Academic Affairs to serve as the University’s chief academic officer and partner with President Ron Patterson in advancing academic excellence and student success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide vision and leadership for all areas of Academic Affairs, including six colleges, the School of Nursing & Health Professions, the School of Agriculture, libraries, research centers, and academic support units
  • Guide program development, accreditation, and resource alignment
  • Lead faculty recruitment, development, and student success initiatives
  • Oversee academic budgets, accreditation processes, and compliance
  • Partner with deans to launch new professional programs (dental hygiene, veterinary medicine)
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and innovative academic culture
Minimum Education Requirements

A terminal degree (e.g., Ph.D., Ed.D., or appropriate terminal degree) from an accredited institution.

Minimum Experience And Skill Requirements
  • A scholarly record commensurate with appointment at the rank of full professor with tenure in an academic department.
  • Proven record of having a minimum of five years of academic administrative leadership with oversight of program development, accreditation, and budget management.
  • Strong financial and resource stewardship skills.
  • Demonstrated success in faculty and student success initiatives.
Preferred Education And/or Experience Qualifications

Direct experience with professional program accreditation and managing complex academic portfolios.
