Aboriginal Workforce Engagement and Retention Consultant – Help Drive Meaningful Change and Support a Stronger Future

Make a lasting impact by shaping strategies that strengthen Aboriginal workforce participation, engagement, and retention across the Riverland Mallee Coorong Local Health Network (RMCLHN). This is an opportunity to use your analytical, communication and relationship‑building skills to influence system improvement, support cultural safety, and contribute to a more inclusive and sustainable Aboriginal workforce.

About the Role

As the Aboriginal Workforce Engagement and Retention Consultant, you will provide expert project, policy, and planning advice to support the goals of the Aboriginal Health Directorate. Your role will focus on enhancing recruitment pathways for Aboriginal people and driving continuous improvement in strategies that promote staff retention, wellbeing and workforce development.

You will undertake key regional administrative responsibilities, including data collection and analysis, survey coordination, workforce administration, procurement, financial tasks, and reporting. You will also lead or contribute to discrete, complex projects and programs that strengthen workforce outcomes.

Collaboration is central to this role. You will work closely with RMCLHN teams, the Aboriginal Health Unit, Aboriginal organisations, and site‑based staff to co‑design solutions to identified gaps or barriers, improve systems and processes, and develop culturally informed strategies that support positive workforce experiences.

Your strong analytical, research and communication skills will support the development of actionable insights that inform strategic decisions, strengthen workforce capability, and improve organisational culture.

What We’re Looking For
  • Demonstrated experience in working with Aboriginal people and Aboriginal communities.
  • Experience in undertaking research, gathering and analysing data and interpreting multiple sources of information to form recommendations.
  • Experience in the preparation of complex reports, briefings and correspondence.
  • Experience working in collaboration with stakeholders and in partnership with government agencies and Aboriginal community groups to resolve complex issues.
  • Experience in the interpretation and critical analysis of programs/services/policies.
  • Experience in the use of the Microsoft suite of products.
  • Experience with data quality management frameworks.
Benefits
  • Support both personally and professionally with access to a range of education and training opportunities.
  • Flexible work arrangements to better balance work, personal life, and family commitments.
  • Inclusive workplace culture that values diversity and ensures a sense of belonging and safety for all employees.
  • Salary sacrifice benefits.
  • Relocation support where applicable.
