Job Description: A Medical Assistant performs routine clerical and clinical tasks within the clinic, assisting Physicians and other licensed providers to provide quality patient care efficiently and cost effectively.
Salary$19.00/hr – $28.00/hr (actual rate based on experience)
Shift Details40 hours/week, Full Time. Clinic hours are Monday-Friday 7:00am-1:00pm, Tuesday-Friday 7:00am-5:00pm. Schedule to be determined upon hire. No holidays or weekends.
Unit / LocationIntermountain Medical Center – Heart Failure and Transplant
Responsibilities- Providing patient care under the direction of the clinician, assisting the provider to gather information relevant to the patient’s visit and condition.
- Communicating clearly with patients through telephone and in-person interactions.
- Collaborating with cross‑functional teams on patient care, paying attention to detail and follow‑through.
- Medical Assistant I
- Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
- Satisfactorily completes applicable competency assessments and skills checklists within 90 days of hire/transfer.
- Medical Assistant II
- Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
- Satisfactorily completes applicable competency assessments and skills checklists within 90 days of hire/transfer.
- Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or an affiliation agreement with Intermountain.
- Or three years of Medical Assistant experience in an outpatient clinic or other healthcare setting.
- Or successful completion of an accredited LPN or RN program with current license.
- Medical Assistant III
- National MA Certification or current LPN/RN licensure.
- Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS).
- Seven years of Medical Assistant (or LPN or RN) experience in an outpatient clinic or other healthcare setting.
- Successful completion of competent assessments within 90 days of hire/transfer.
- Additional assignments (e.g., Clinical Coach, Supervisor/Champion, conducting audits, training).
- Ongoing need to see, read, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Verbal communication and hearing proficiency, especially during emergency situations.
- Manual dexterity and computer use for documentation and medication preparation.
- Ability to lift and transfer patients, carrying supplies up to heavy items.
- Assisting with transporting patients and moving equipment, including pushing or pulling gurneys.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
Intermountain Health, Intermountain Medical Center, Murray, Utah. Scheduled weekly hours: 40.
