Job SummaryA Medical Assistant provides care to patients in an ambulatory clinic setting, caring for patients with acute and chronic needs. The role involves direct patient interaction via telephone and in‑person modalities, supporting the clinical team to ensure each patient receives the best possible care.
Shift Details36 hours per week, full‑time. Clinic hours are Monday–Friday, 7:45 am – 5:30 pm.
Schedule:
four 9‑hour shifts per week with Wednesdays off.
Intermountain Medical Center – Medical Oncology Clinic, Murray, Utah.
Responsibilities- Assist clinicians in gathering patient information and providing direct care under supervision.
- Communicate clearly with patients through telephone and in‑person interactions.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support patient care, maintaining attention to detail and follow‑through.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program OR at least one year of Medical Assistant experience OR an active RN/LPN license in Utah.
- Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers, to be obtained prior to start date.
- Basic computer skills, including word processing and data entry.
- Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal/communication skills.
- Ability to protect privacy, confidentiality, and PHI of patients and caregivers.
- For Utah residents with less than one year of MA experience, the option to attend a year‑long MA residency program.
- Experience in an outpatient clinic or other healthcare setting.
- Computer literacy in electronic medical record (EMR) systems and related software.
- National MA certification (RMA, NCMA, CCMA, CMA) or equivalent.
- Ability to see, read information, assess patient needs, operate monitors, and identify equipment.
- Frequent verbal communication and listening, especially during emergencies.
- Manual dexterity for manipulating complex equipment and frequent computer use/typing.
- Ability to lift, transfer, and move patients, including heavy items up to at least 50 lb.
- Capacity to stand for extended periods and maneuver in busy rooms with equipment and cords.
- For roles requiring driving, ability to safely operate a vehicle.
