Job Description:
The Registered Dietitian Advanced Practice Specialist leads and directs the nutrition care process in highly complex specialty care areas using in-depth experience-based knowledge, diagnostic reasoning skills, and technical expertise. This role develops personalized medical nutrition therapy care plans for individuals across the continuum of care and/or in settings where frequent monitoring and evaluation is required due to the dynamic nature of the health condition.Posting Details
- Shift: 40 hours per week, either 5 x 8 or 4 x 10 based on clinic needs/physician schedules
- This position will support the multidisciplinary esophageal clinic based out of Intermountain Medical Center in their GI department
- Full Time 40 hrs/weekly

Essential Functions
- Provides Medical Nutrition Therapy to individuals with multifactorial and highly dynamic complex disease states requiring frequent evaluation, monitoring, and adjustment in interventions.
- Uses considerable depth of specialized knowledge to autonomously design highly personalized nutrition treatment plans relative to one or more complex conditions over time.
- Conducts comprehensive data analysis to identify trends and inform interventions.
- Identifies factors beyond nutrition that interfere with interventions and makes referrals.
- Leads and directs the interprofessional team in planning and implementing nutrition interventions.
- Drives nutrition care management across the continuum of care.
- Applies expertise in medical equipment in the provision of nutrition care (e.g. insulin pumps, continuous glucose monitors, placing feeding tubes and/or bridles, etc.)
- Mentors and trains dietitians and other health professionals in specialty area of practice and acts as an expert resource for consultation.
- Develops strategic partnerships both internally and externally to advance nutrition care for given specialty area locally and enterprise-wide.
- Acts as a subject matter expert in research, enterprise practice standards, enterprise committees, etc.

Qualifications
- Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
- For graduates after Jan 1, 2024, completion of a minimum of a master’s degree by an accredited university. Education is verified.
- Completion of an ACEND accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics, Dietetic Internship, Coordinated Program, or graduate-level competency-based dietitian nutritionist program.
- State licensure or certification in accordance with the primary state of practice requirement for Registered Dietitians. If the primary state of practice requires licensure or certification, this must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
- Relevant dietetics-related specialty practice credential (CNSC, CSP, CDCES, CSO, CSR, CSOWM, etc.)
- Demonstrated expertise in using advanced diagnostic tools and techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate with interprofessional teams.
- 4 or more years of experience in managing complex patients in a specialty area, preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
- For roles requiring driving:
Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
