Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients. The staff RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice and coordination of care with other health team members. Intermountain Medical Center Labor & Delivery delivers approximately 3,700 babies a year, ranging from uncomplicated to medically complex.

We offer 18 labor rooms, 3 operating rooms, and 3 triage rooms. At the Medical Center, we deliver babies from the earliest gestation to post dates. The services our unit offers include vaginal deliveries, Cesarean Sections, TOLAC/VBAC, cerclage, intra-uterine transfusion, Tubal Ligation, and Bereavement care. Our patient ratios are typically 1-1.5 patients per nurse, depending on patient complexity and where the patient is in the labor process.

Labor and Delivery nurses work closely with Anesthesia, residents and attending physicians to discuss and implement the best plan of care for each patient. We routinely collaborate with the NICU and Maternity units to ensure our patient population receives excellent care during their stay at IMED.
