Job DescriptionThe Security Officer provides a safe environment for patients, visitors, employees, and volunteers. The position monitors visitor or patient activity, inspects the premises, enforces policies, provides assistance and direction, responds to emergencies, and protects employees, visitors, and Intermountain property.
Essential Functions- Operates and monitors security technology systems, including surveillance cameras, access control systems, and alarm systems, ensuring proper functioning and maintenance.
- Uses verbal and non‑verbal de‑escalation techniques to calm individuals and resolve conflicts peacefully, minimizing the need for physical force.
- Ensures regulatory compliance (e.g., HIPAA) when reporting crimes or incidents, disclosing only the minimum necessary information to law enforcement.
- Responds to bomb threats and suspicious packages following established protocols.
- Participates in drills such as infant abduction and active shooter exercises to prepare staff for real‑life situations.
- Conducts respectful searches of patients and searches for narcotics in compliance with legal requirements.
- Performs safety inspections of walking surfaces, fire extinguishers, and overall facility safety to mitigate risks.
- Enforces parking regulations to ensure safety and accessibility, enhancing the patient experience.

- Current driver’s license (if applicable).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers or willingness to obtain within 90 days.
- At least 21 years of age.
- One year of prior experience in law enforcement, corrections, public safety, military police, or security.
- Ability to see and read information, labels, monitors, and equipment.
- Effective communication and rapid understanding of spoken information, alarms, and needs.
- Manual dexterity to manipulate complex equipment with precision.
- Capacity to lift, transport, pull, and push equipment, including heavy items.
- Flexibility to work on hands and knees and bend for setup, troubleshooting, and carrying supplies.
- Driving requirements (if applicable) for operating a vehicle to read signs and navigate traffic.

CompensationHourly rate $19.95 – $26.38 (actual rate depends on experience).
