Position OverviewThe Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for managing and maintaining the financial integrity of corporate real estate portfolios. This role plays a key part in financial reporting, general ledger oversight, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal policies. The ideal candidate has a strong accounting background and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and review monthly, quarterly, and year‑end financial statements for corporate entities and real estate assets. Manage the general ledger and ensure all entries are accurate and properly supported. Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, variance analyses, and account roll‑forwards. Assist the Controller in managing vendor payments, employee credit card and EFT transactions, and online loan payments.
Qualifications- Monitors cash funding and cash flows across multiple entities to support business operations and investment activity.
- Work closely with property management and management teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and budgeting for all projects.
- Coordinate and prepare supporting documentation for internal and external reporting.
- Key liaison with external tax and accounting firms, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of financial documentation for reviews, tax filings, and compliance.
- Prepares pre‑acquisition real estate report.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
- Support system improvements and automation of accounting processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CPA‑track preferred.
- 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally with real estate or property management exposure.
- Strong understanding of GAAP.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Oracle or similar ERP systems).
- Advanced Excel skills; able to handle large datasets and build financial models.
- Detail‑oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Prior experience in corporate real estate, commercial property management, or REITs.
- Experience working in a multi‑entity environment.
Desirable Experience
- Familiarity with inventory management.
- Familiarity with lease accounting standards.
