About the CompanyOur client is a growing manufacturer specializing in high-quality, precision-engineered products. The company takes pride in craftsmanship, attention to detail, and delivering reliable products through strong manufacturing processes and advanced machining capabilities.
Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to develop, optimize, and support CNC machining programs used in precision manufacturing. This person will translate engineering drawings and 3D models into efficient machining processes, develop toolpaths, select appropriate tooling and cutting strategies, and work closely with manufacturing and engineering teams to ensure parts are produced accurately and efficiently.
The ideal candidate has hands-on CAD/CAM programming experience, understands machining fundamentals, and can troubleshoot programming or machining challenges on the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and optimize CNC programs for milling operations based on engineering drawings, 3D models, and manufacturing requirements.
- Create and modify toolpaths using CAD/CAM software such as Mastercam, Fusion 360, Solid Works CAM, NX/Unigraphics, or comparable platforms.
- Program multi-axis CNC equipment, including 3-axis and, where applicable, 4-axis and 5-axis machining centers.
- Determine appropriate tooling, feeds, speeds, cutting strategies, and machining sequences based on material and part requirements.
- Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerances, and technical specifications to ensure accurate part production.
- Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and manufacturing personnel to troubleshoot issues and improve machining processes.
- Support first-article inspections, setup verification, and program prove-outs to ensure parts meet quality standards.
- Identify opportunities to reduce cycle times, improve tool life, minimize material waste, and increase overall machining efficiency.
- Maintain accurate CNC programs, tooling documentation, setup sheets, and related manufacturing records.
- Assist with fixture design, process development, and continuous improvement initiatives as needed.
- Experience programming CNC mills in a precision manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with at least one major CAD/CAM programming platform.
- Strong understanding of machining practices, cutting tools, work holding, feeds and speeds, and material properties.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, technical drawings, GD&T, and tight-tolerance requirements.
- Experience troubleshooting toolpaths, machining operations, and program performance.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with machinists, engineers, and production teams.
- Experience with 3-axis, 4-axis, or 5-axis CNC milling.
- Background in custom machining, metal components, tooling, fixtures, or precision manufacturing.
- Experience working with stainless steel, aluminum, brass, or other common manufacturing materials.
- Familiarity with CNC simulation, collision detection, and program verification software.
- Experience improving existing programs, reducing cycle times, and supporting new product introduction.
We want a hands-on programmer who understands how a program performs in the real world—not just on a screen. Someone who can develop reliable toolpaths, work through machining challenges, partner with the shop floor, and help maintain the quality and precision our products require.
