Part-Time Librarian (Muscat, Oman)

We are in need of a dedicated and organized Part-Time Librarian to join our team at our library in Muscat, Oman.

As a Part-Time Librarian, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service to library patrons, organizing and managing library materials, as well as assisting with various administrative tasks. This is a part-time role with flexible hours, perfect for someone looking to supplement their income or gain experience in the field of librarianship.

• Provide assistance and guidance to library patrons in locating and accessing information
• Manage circulation desk duties including checking materials in and out, collecting fines, and registering new users
• Maintain accurate records of library transactions
• Organize and catalog new materials using the Dewey Decimal System
• Assist with collection development by recommending new materials for purchase
• Plan and conduct programs and events for library users such as story times or book clubs
• Assist with administrative tasks such as answering phone calls and responding to emails

• Bachelor's degree in Library Science or a related field
• Previous experience working in a library setting preferred
• Excellent customer service skills and ability to work well with others
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Knowledge of the Dewey Decimal System and other library cataloging methods
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
