Downe House Muscat is seeking an inspiring and forward-thinking Assistant Head-Teaching and Learning (Primary) for August 2026 to drive excellence across our primary phase and strengthen our culture of outstanding classroom practice.

The Assistant Head-Teaching and Learning (Primary) is a senior leadership position reporting directly to the Principal. The post holder will provide strategic leadership for teaching and learning across the primary phase (KG1 – Grade
6), ensuring high standards of professional practice fully aligned with the Downe House ethos and expectations.

The role requires a strong understanding of children’s developmental stages and learning needs across early childhood and primary years. The post holder will ensure that approaches to teaching, learning and assessment are well-sequenced, age‑appropriate and impactful, while supporting both staff and students throughout the phase.

• Provide senior leadership for teaching and learning across the primary school, ensuring high expectations and consistency from KG1 to Grade 6.
• Lead, inspire and support staff in developing excellent classroom practice rooted in strong pedagogy and professional reflection.
• Promote and model Downe House standards of excellence in teaching, learning, assessment and feedback.
