Position Title

Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Faculty of Transport and Logistics

Purpose of the Position

Muscat University is looking to grow its Faculty of Transport & Logistics through the appointment of a Lecturer/Senior Lecturerin Transportation and Logistics Management. Applications are welcomed fromthose with experience of teaching and research in a range of discipline fields,including, but not exclusive to, transportation, aviation, operations management, warehouse and inventory management, and logistics and supply chain management.

The post holder is expected to demonstrate academic leadership through curriculum innovation, research excellence, and meaningful collaboration with industry, government, and international academic partners,and to work with the Faculty Dean to ensure efficient and effective delivery ofmodules. S/he will be responsible for teaching modules such as:
Freight Transport, Warehouse and Inventory Management, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Transportation,Shipping and Maritime among others. The role also involves supervising studentresearch, contributing to funded research initiatives, supporting institutionalquality assurance processes, and actively engaging in professional service and outreach activities that enhance the university’s reputation and societalimpact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality learning and teaching experience on the Logistics and Supply Chain Managementundergraduate and postgraduate programme.
  • Construct,plan and assess student assignments.
  • Liaise with the Faculty Director on all student matters including timetabling,academic and technical support.
  • Undertake the role of pastoral services.
  • Undertakeresearch and scholarly activity with a view to publishing quality academic journals.
  • Engagein industry collaborations and consultancy.
  • Engage with external logistics related bodies and industry to enrich the studentexperience, including visiting students on industrial placement.
  • Be prepared to travel (including internationally) on university affairs.
  • Participate in University meetings and events including Board of Examiners, Programme Reviews, Planning and Monitoring Committees and Staff/Student Liaison.
  • Maintain flexible working patterns which may include evening and working remotelyto support the Programme/Faculty/University business.

Any other duties as deemed necessary by the Line Manager.

Educational

Qualification:

Ph.D. in Supply Chain Management /Logistics / Operations Management/Transportation/ Shipping and Maritime.

Experience:

  • Extensiveacademic experience in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, Transportation,Shipping and Maritime and related disciplines (Minimum 3-4 years teaching experience for a lecture position, 5-7 years for a senior lecturer).
  • Experiencesupervising undergraduate and postgraduate research projects
  • Stronglinks to industry and experience in an international context.
  • Proven involvement in curriculum development, module coordination, assessment design, and accreditation alignment (e.g., CILT, CIPS, Lean Six Sigma, AACSB, or other related bodies).

Skills:

  • Teaching& Learning Excellence (Deliver high-quality teaching to undergraduate andgraduate students, as evidenced, for example, by peers, students, and externalexaminers)
  • Supervision(Supervise undergraduate students and postgraduate students)
  • Appropriateresearch experience as evidenced by peer-reviewed journal publications (preferablyresearch in Quantitative and Mixed Methods approaches)
  • Curriculum& Programme Development Strong motivation to engage the industry in developing teaching content and research ideas
