Reports to

Deputy Vice-Chancellor – Academic Affairs Research and innovation

Staff of the Department of Engagement and Relations, including Student Affairs Unit and student placement office.

Purpose of the Position

The manager of Engagement and Relations provides strategic leadership and operational management for the University’s external engagement functions and full operational oversight of the Student Affairs Unit
, including student placement coordination
.

The role strengthens international, community, alumni, and employer engagement, oversees student life and placement services, and ensures compliance within institutional policies and accreditation requirements, including OAAAQA, while enhancing student experience and graduate readiness.

Key Responsibilities International Collaboration & External Engagement
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with international universities, research institutions,industries, and professional bodies.
  • Develop and oversee exchange programs, joint academic initiatives, and institutional collaborations.
  • Represent the University in international engagement forums and networks.
Engagement with Professional Bodies
  • Identify and manage relationships with relevant professional and accrediting bodies.
  • Coordinate professional accreditation, recognition, and equivalency processes with academic units.
  • Support alignment of academic programs with professional and sector standards.
Community Engagement
  • Design and implement community engagement initiatives aligned with national priorities and institutional strategy.
  • Oversee outreach programs, volunteering initiatives, CSR activities, and lifelong learning engagement.
  • Ensure community engagement activities support OAAAQA requirements and institutional impact objectives.
Alumni Relations
  • Develop and sustain an active alumni network supporting institutional development and reputation.
  • Organize alumni events, mentorship initiatives, and advisory engagement.
  • Provide full operational leadership and management of the Student Affairs Unit
    , including planning, execution, supervision, and performance monitoring.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations related to:
  • Student wellbeing, counselling, and non-academic support services
  • Student activities, clubs, societies, and extracurricular programs
  • Student engagement initiatives, leadership development, and representation
  • Student orientation, induction, and student life programs
  • Develop, implement, and monitor operational plans, procedures, and KPIs for student affairs services.
  • Supervise Student Affairs staff and ensure effective performance management and service quality.
  • Coordinate with Academic Affairs, Security & Safety, Facilities, and other relevant units to ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive student environment.
  • Ensure documentation, reporting, and evidence collection related to student affairs operations for OAAAQA and institutional audits.
  • Escalate student-related risks, welfare concerns, and compliance issues to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor as required.
Student Placement & Employer Engagement
  • Provide institutional coordination and oversight of student placement and internship programs
    , in collaboration with academic units.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with employers, industry partners, and placement hosts.
  • Develop frameworks, guidelines, and procedures for student placement activities, ensuring alignment with academic requirements and accreditation standards.
  • Coordinate placement opportunities, employer engagement events, and career exposure activities.
  • Monitor placement outcomes, employer feedback, and student satisfaction indicators.
  • Ensure proper documentation and reporting of student placement activities for quality assurance and accreditation purposes.
  • Academic assessment, credit allocation, and program requirements remain the responsibility of Academic Affairs and colleges.
Visibility & Institutional Promotion
  • Coordinate with Marketing and Communications to enhance institutional visibility and engagement platforms.
