Purpose of the Position
Muscat University is looking to grow its Faculty of Business and Management through the appointment of a Lecturer and an Assistant Professor in Accounting with emphasis on Audit, Professional Ethics, Business Tax, Tax Policy, Personal Tax and Strategic Management Accounting. With an ethos of providing an exceptional student experience, the post holder will work with the Faculty Dean to ensure efficient and effective delivery of modules.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that curriculum management and enhancement activities comply with the required standards of the Oman Academic Accreditation Authority (OAAA).
- Teaching at the Lecturer or Assistant Professor level.
- Ensuring curriculum management and enhancement activities comply with the required standards of the Oman Academic Accreditation Authority (OAAA).
- Developing and supervising research projects.
- Enhancing collaborative activities with industry and practicing leading‑edge research through an international publication record.
- For appointment to the Lecturer rank: a minimum of a Master’s qualification in Accounting and two years experience in Higher Education (HE) teaching.
- For the Assistant Professor rank: a minimum of a PhD in Accounting or a closely related field from an accredited university (ideally UK‑based and AACSB accredited), good research profile, and a minimum of three years post‑doctoral HE teaching (including master’s level).
- Exceptional candidates with recognized professional qualifications and substantial industry and/or professional experiences including at least five years of HE teaching & research experience can be considered for an Assistant Professor rank.
- Experience in the UK HE sectors and/or the Omani and GCC HE environments would be an advantage, as would strong links to industry, and experience in an international context.
