Position Title
Dean Faculty of Science and Technology
Reports toDeputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs,
Research & Innovation
Assistant Dean(s), Directors and Heads of
Departments/Sections, Faculty, and Administrative Staff of the Faculty.
The Dean of the Faculty of Science
and Technology provides academic and administrative leadership to ensure the
highest standards of teaching, research, and industry engagement within the Faculty.
The Dean is responsible for the strategic and operational development of the Faculty,
aligning academic programs with national and international accreditation
requirements, as well as market needs in technology, and applied sciences.
- Provide
leadership in developing and executing the Faculty s strategic and operational
plans in line with the University s overall strategy. - Ensure high-quality, innovative, and industry-relevant
academic programs in Science and technology disciplines. - Oversee curriculum development, review, and
accreditation processes to align with OAAAQA and international standards. - Foster an environment of academic excellence,
innovation, and applied research.
- Oversee faculty recruitment, promotion, and
professional development within the Faculty. - Conduct performance appraisals of faculty and staff,
ensuring accountability and continuous development. - Establish mentoring and professional development
frameworks for faculty, with delegated operational support from the Assistant
Dean. - Ensure faculty
sufficiency in numbers, qualifications, and specializations to meet program and
accreditation requirements.
- Promote research activities across Science and
technology disciplines, encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration and
external funding. - Strengthen partnerships with industry, government
agencies, and research institutions. - Support the development of innovation hubs and applied
research centers within the Faculty.
- Ensure programs foster strong employability outcomes,
equipping graduates with the technical, analytical, and leadership skills
required by the job market. - Oversee student advising, support services, and
engagement activities within the Faculty. - Foster student participation in competitions,
innovation challenges, and industry projects.
- Own and oversee the Institutional Standards Assessment
(ISA) and Programme Standards Assessment (PSA) processes relevant to the Faculty. - Ensure continuous improvement cycles are embedded in
all academic and administrative processes, including timely closure of action
plans. - Demonstrate compliance with OAAAQA and international
accreditation requirements for Science and technology programs.
- Build strategic partnerships with Science firms,
technology companies, and professional bodies.
- Actively engage with advisory boards, industry
leaders, and accreditation agencies. - Represent the Faculty at national and international
forums.
- Prepare and implement the Faculty s operational plan,
including budget management and resource allocation. - Ensure optimal utilization of facilities,
laboratories, and infrastructure to support teaching, research, and innovation. - Develop new programs and initiatives to enhance
revenue generation and sustainability of the Faculty.
- PhD in a relevant science or technology discipline.
- Minimum academic rank of Associate Professor
(preferred: Full Professor). - Leadership training in higher education administration is desirable.
- Minimum 12 15 years of academic experience, including
at least 3 years in a leadership role at a recognized Faculty or university. - Proven record in teaching, research, academic
leadership, and program accreditation. - Demonstrated experience in academic planning,
curriculum development, faculty management, and industry engagement.
- Strong academic standing with evidence of scholarly
contributions. - Expertise in curriculum design, teaching, and
assessment. - Strong knowledge of OAAAQA Standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal
skills. - Ability to manage diverse teams and build
collaborative environments. - Strong strategic planning, problem-solving, and
decision-making skills. - High ethical standards, integrity, and commitment to
institutional values.
