Librarian

Librarian (Muscat, Oman)

We are seeking a knowledgeable and organized Librarian to join our team in Muscat, Oman. As a Librarian, you will be responsible for managing and organizing our library's collection of books, journals, and other resources. You will also assist patrons with research inquiries and provide guidance on how to access and use library materials.

• Develop and maintain the library's collection of books, journals, and other resources
• Catalogue new materials and organize them according to the library's classification system
• Assist patrons with research inquiries and provide guidance on how to access and use library materials
• Maintain accurate records of borrowed materials and manage overdue items
• Create displays to promote new or relevant materials in the library
• Plan and conduct events such as book clubs or guest speakers to engage the community
• Train library assistants on proper shelving techniques and other library procedures
• Stay up-to-date with current trends in literature, technology, and education to ensure the library meets the needs of its users

• Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field
• Previous experience working in a library or similar setting preferred
• Proficient in using library management software systems
• Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
• Customer service-oriented with excellent communication skills
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Salary: $1500 per month with accommodation provided.

This job is based in Muscat, Oman. Omani nationals or those with a valid work permit for Oman are preferred.
