Civil Engineer

Atkins’ Civils, Infrastructure Water and Environment team is dedicated to providing value added design solutions for the Infrastructure and Water Industry and client within Oman.

Atkins is focussed on the design of civils and infrastructure projects.

roads/ highways/ expressways, bridges/culverts, drainage, storm/flood defences, marine related civils works, power/communication and other utility infrastructure networks,and water related projects including:

major pipeline schemes water and wastewater, pumping solutions, treatment works/plant, irrigation, dams, reservoirs, network development design and rehabilitation management, pressure/leakage management and water balance and resource management.

• Task management, including management of their own time to fulfil the needs and action of the overall delivery team.
• Data processing and analysis.
• Produce detailed technical design solutions according to relevant Standards/Codes and with direction from other Engineers/ line manager / head of department.
• Respond to client directions in a responsive and customer focused manner.
• Preparation of technical designs and where necessary support production of reports & presentation of results for conveying conclusions & recommendations.
• Support to contributing and supporting to the successful completion of projects. This includes preparation and undertaking technical tasks as appropriate to complete the elements or packages of works for overall projects, liaison with clients, stakeholders, third parties (e.g. local ministries/authorities/municipalities, environmental bodies, etc.) where necessary.
• Responsible for working with the rest of the Civils team in advancing our technical capability to the highest standard. This will include working with others to support innovative approaches and techniques and supporting production of technical papers.

• Engineering based degree (civil Engineering or Water Engineering related degree).
• Recognizable amount of post graduate professional experience (minimum of 1-2 years experience).
• Understanding / awareness of civil and infrastructure, water and environmental regulations, including an appreciation of environmental constraints.
• Technical design or project management experience (preferred).
• Beneficial experience would also include previous work experience in a consulting engineering company and have worked on civils infrastructure works and solutions. Ideal candidate would have had some construction experience although it is not a requirement. If no Civils/Infrastructure experience then candidate to have some previous experience in water mains/pipelines, water supply networks distribution, layout design and hydraulic analysis including leakage management.

To fulfil the position, the candidate will be required to travel throughout the Sultanate of Oman and perhaps some visits to other GCC countries to assist work and teams for short assignments and/or client visits.

• Experience of Civil/water engineering processes and procedures, used to working with team members on projects.
• Able to undertake detailed design and calculations using Excel and various software packages.
• Innovative and creative.
