Wood is recruiting Study Managers to join our Process & Chemicals Consulting Team based in Muscat, Oman. The role focuses on guiding clients through evolving energy markets, balancing profitability with sustainability and ESG commitments.
ResponsibilitiesAs an experienced engineer with a strong appreciation of process design, you will take commercial and stakeholder management responsibility for delivering pre‑FEED studies. You will:
- Develop and manage strong customer relationships ensuring that Wood is the client’s contractor of choice for early‑phase studies.
- Oversee all aspects of project management and delivery of pre‑FEED scopes of work, managing risk, change and project performance against cost, schedule and quality metrics.
- Lead the project team to achieve health, safety, environmental, schedule, cost and quality requirements and ensure compliance with Wood’s and client procedures.
- Provide optimized solutions to clients’ complex problems, articulating them for internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop compelling, competitive proposals that demonstrate the best way to deliver the project.
- Challenge the status quo, support the group’s growth, and model collaborative, inclusive, supportive team behaviours.
- Degree qualified in a relevant Engineering or Science Discipline.
- Commercial awareness of project delivery.
- Understanding of pre‑FEED detailed requirements.
- Ability to engage early with clients to develop value‑add studies.
- Experience chairing meetings and facilitating workshops.
- Capability to motivate and lead multi‑disciplinary, multi‑cultural teams.
- Ability to develop compelling proposals, including man‑hour, execution strategy and schedule development.
- Effective communication to build collaboration and influence stakeholders.
- Strategic thinking, decision‑making and delivery of results.
- Experience in downstream sector – refining, fuels and chemicals.
- Chartered Engineer or Scientist.
- Member of an appropriate professional institution.
- Qualification from Association of Project Management or similar.
- Commercial exposure in proposals, legal or commercial roles.
- Experience in FEED, EPC, commissioning or operations.
- Experience in New Energies (Hydrogen, CCUS, low‑carbon fuels).
- Proficiency in project scheduling, estimating and cost accounting tools.
