Job Description & How to Apply Below
Responsibilities
- Verifying structural reinforcement by inspecting rebar placement, spacing, and diameter against structural drawings before concrete pours.
- Monitoring concrete placement and curing, supervising slump tests, ensuring proper vibration to prevent honeycombing, and verifying that test cubes and cylinders are taken correctly.
- Reviewing and approving material submittals to ensure that every product used on‑site—from the grade of steel to the type of waterproofing—matches the approved project specifications.
- Conducting daily site walk‑throughs to identify deviations from the approved drawings or Method Statements and issuing Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs) when work is substandard.
- Monitoring site safety and housekeeping, ensuring that scaffolding is secure, fall protection is in place, and that the contractor adheres to the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) plan.
- Witnessing on‑site testing such as soil compaction tests for foundations, hydrostatic pressure tests for plumbing, and pull‑out tests for anchors.
- Documenting progress through daily reports, maintaining a precise log of manpower, equipment usage, weather conditions, and work completed for payment valuation.
- Managing the Request for Inspection (RFI) process, responding promptly to contractor requests to check specific work stages before they are covered up by subsequent tasks.
- Reviewing As‑Built drawings submitted by the contractor to ensure they accurately reflect any changes made during the execution phase.
- Assisting in the snagging/punch list process during the final stages of the project to identify and correct minor defects before handing the building over to the client.
- Tracking material quantities and wastage, ensuring the contractor is managing resources efficiently and that the project remains within the calculated material benchmarks.
- Coordinating with the Project Manager to resolve technical clashes on‑site, such as when a structural beam interferes with a planned HVAC duct.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, with a strong foundation in engineering principles and practices.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, demonstrating a commitment to industry standards and ethics.
- Minimum of 5–10 years of relevant work experience in civil engineering, with hands‑on involvement in construction projects.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil3D, and other industry‑standard design software to create and modify engineering drawings.
