Intermediate Drainage Design Engineer Renardet – Oman Position Overview
Renardet SA and Partners Oman is seeking a proficient Drainage Design Engineer at an intermediate career stage (5–8 years of experience) to join our team in Oman. This role is intended for a design professional who operates independently on technical assignments and is ready to progress toward a senior‑level position. You will contribute to the delivery of robust stormwater and drainage infrastructure through sound hydrological assessment, hydraulic design, and client‑facing communication.
Key Responsibilities- Undertake comprehensive hydrological assessments using GIS and industry-recognized software (e.g., HEC‑RAS, SSA, StormCAD, SWMM or equivalent) to determine catchment characteristics, runoff generation, and design flow rates.
- Perform hydraulic design and sizing of drainage conveyance systems, including stormwater pipe networks and open channels.
- Produce detailed design documentation and construction‑ready drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D (alignments, profiles, grading, and pipe networks).
- Prepare clear, logically structured design reports and technical memoranda in English.
- Deliver professional presentations to clients, articulating design methodology, results, and recommendations with confidence and clarity.
- Coordinate with multi-disciplinary project teams and provide technical guidance to less experienced staff as appropriate.
- Between five and eight years of professional experience in drainage engineering, with a focus on hydrology and hydraulic design (consulting background preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to carry out hydrological assessments using GIS and recognized modelling applications.
- Solid competence in the hydraulic design of both piped systems and open channels.
- Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., QGIS, HEC‑RAS, HEC‑HMS, SWMM, SewerGEMS, StormCAD, or similar).
- Advanced working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D for civil/drainage infrastructure design.
- Excellent written and spoken English, with a track record of producing high‑quality technical reports.
- Comfortable in a client‑facing role; able to lead technical discussions and presentations without supervision.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline. A postgraduate qualification in Water Resources or Hydrology would be viewed favourably.
- Involvement in technically challenging and meaningful infrastructure projects across Oman.
- A clearly defined pathway from intermediate to senior engineer with genuine career progression.
