Role Overview
A leading organization in the mining and resources sector is seeking a highly experienced Study Manager to lead the full Front-End Loading (FEL) study lifecycle—from concept and scoping through Pre-Feasibility (PFS), Definitive Feasibility (DFS), and FEED. This role is critical in driving investment-ready studies
, managing external consultants and EPCM partners, and ensuring delivery of technically robust, compliant, and value-optimized project outcomes. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing Final Investment Decision (FID) packages and supporting executive-level decision-making.
- Manage end-to-end study lifecycle across all FEL phases (Scoping to FEED)
- Ensure delivery aligned with scope, schedule, budget, and governance frameworks
- Develop study scopes, execution plans, and deliverable tracking systems
- Lead engagement with external consultants, EPCM contractors, and technical advisors
- Define scopes of work, monitor performance, and ensure high-quality outputs
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders across technical, finance, ESG, and legal functions
- Integrate multi-disciplinary inputs (geology, mining, metallurgy, processing, infrastructure)
- Validate technical deliverables and ensure compliance with international standards (JORC, NI 43-101)
- Identify and mitigate technical and integration risks
- Lead technical-economic trade-off studies to optimize project configuration
- Drive value engineering initiatives to enhance project viability and reduce risk
- Prepare high-quality reports for senior leadership and Board-level decisions
- Lead preparation of Stage-Gate deliverables and Gate 3 FID package
- Ensure alignment with investment policies, governance frameworks, and regulatory requirements
- Support due diligence, financing, and partner engagement processes
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mining, Metallurgical, Process, Mechanical, or Civil);
Master’s preferred - 15+ years’ experience in mining or industrial project development
- Proven track record managing full FEL study lifecycle and consultant/EPCM interfaces
- Strong expertise in multi-discipline integration and technical report validation
- Experience in value engineering, cost estimation (AACEI), and FID preparation
- Solid knowledge of JORC and NI 43-101 reporting standards
- PMP or equivalent certification is an advantage
- Consultant and stakeholder management
- Technical-economic analysis & value optimization
- Strong governance, HSE, and ESG orientation
