Open for expats (Re-location package provided) OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Breakwater Engineer – Site Supervisor who will supervise the construction of breakwater structures, ensuring technical compliance, construction quality, and safety standards. The role focuses on marine works execution, contractor coordination, and site progress monitoring for coastal protection infrastructure.
Responsibilities- Supervise the construction of breakwater and responsibilities for similar structures in compliance with the Contract, the technical specifications, and the approved detailed design.
- Be available on-site full-time.
- Commit to a team ethic with client, colleagues and contractors to check that the work is satisfactorily completed within time and cost and to the required technical standard.
- Monitor the quality of materials and workmanship, through impartial observation of testing, where appropriate (e.g. concrete mixes, concrete as delivered & placed, armor units as cast, rock as supplied).
- Visit quarries and ensure that the rock supplied for breakwater is of necessary quality and is in compliance with codal requirements.
- Ensure that the precast concrete armour units are of required quality as per the vendor specifications.
- Ensure that the precast concrete armour units are correctly placed in position as per the design/vendor requirements.
- Ensure proper profiling of under layers for placement of armour units.
- Attend inspection requests by the Contractor and provide either go ahead with the work or generate noncompliance reports if the inspected work is not satisfactory.
- Check lines and levels in general.
- Assist in ensuring that defects are satisfactorily remedied during liability period.
- Must be a registered Civil Engineer with a minimum bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or an equivalent qualification.
- Must have a minimum of 15 years of cumulative experience in Civil Engineering and at least 6 years related to ports and marine construction.
- Must have served in a similar capacity on at least 2 breakwater projects of similar nature.
- Preferably a full‑time employee of the Consultant for at least 2 years.
- Fluent in writing and speaking English is mandatory.
