OVERVIEWWe are seeking an experienced Jetties Engineer who will be responsible for site supervision of jetty and berthing structures construction. This includes ensuring adherence to design, managing construction interfaces, and maintaining quality and safety standards throughout marine structural works.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Supervise the construction of Jetties, berth, revetment, piling, and all similar structures in compliance with the Contract, the technical specifications and the approved detailed design.
- Be available on-site full-time.
- Commit to a team ethic with client, colleagues and contractors to check that the work is satisfactorily completed within time, cost and required technical standard.
- Monitor the quality of materials and workmanship through impartial observation of testing, where appropriate (e.g. concrete mixes, concrete as delivered & placed, reinforcement quality as supplied).
- Check shutters reinforcement, concrete, structural steel during erection, including climbing aloft to check levels and alignment.
- Attend inspection requests by the Contractor and provide either go ahead with the work or generate noncompliance reports if the inspected work is not satisfactory.
- Ensure that the precast concrete units are of required quality as per the design requirements.
- Check lines and levels in general. Ensure that the substructure/superstructure of jetty is within the tolerance requirements indicated in design requirements/specifications.
- Coordinate with other disciplines and ensure that civil provisions are made in jetty as required by them.
- Assist in ensuring that defects are satisfactorily remedied during liability period.
- Must be a registered Civil Engineer with a minimum bachelor's degree in civil engineering or an equivalent qualification.
- Must have a minimum of 15 years of cumulative experience in civil engineering, including at least 6 years related to ports and marine construction.
- Must have served in a similar capacity on at least 2 breakwater projects of similar nature.
- Preferably a full-time employee of the Consultant for at least 2 years.
- Fluent in writing and speaking English is mandatory.
