Some parts can no longer be machined into existence. You build them in metal or polymers, layer by layer, and qualify them to code.
ATMTA is establishing a High Precision Training, Research, Development, and Production Center for the energy sector. We manufacture mission critical, precision engineered components for the oil and gas industry, built to perform under extreme pressure, temperature, and corrosion where failure is not an option, machined and tested to the highest precision and made intelligent with embedded sensing and AI.
We are hiring a Senior Additive Manufacturing Engineer, on site in Muscat, to build the metal additive capability behind the next generation of oil and gas components.
What you'll do:Own metal additive from process and metallurgy through to qualified production parts and repairs.
Key Responsibilities:- Own metal additive in production, primarily on Metal systems and Polymer(directed energy deposition and powder bed), and equivalents such as Trumpf, EOS, or Meltio
- Develop and qualify additive processes and parameters for corrosion resistant and high strength alloys
- Apply additive to overlay, repair, and remanufacture of high value oil and gas components such as valves, wellheads, and downhole tools, and to near net shape and hybrid manufacturing combined with machining
- Qualify additive parts to API 20S (additively manufactured metallic components for the petroleum and natural gas industries) under API Q1, with construction and testing to ASME Section VIII and Section V as applicable, and sour service to NACE MR0175 (ISO 15156)
- Control feedstock and process to the ISO ASTM 52900 series, with ASTM F3187 for directed energy deposition and ASTM F3055 for powder bed nickel alloys
- Control metallurgy, porosity, distortion, and residual stress, and validate with NDT and mechanical testing
- Develop apprentice additive specialists through structured on the job training, transferring process, metallurgy, and qualification practice
- Define competency milestones and qualify apprentices, building the center's own additive talent as part of its research and development mission
- You have taken metal and polymer additive into production or qualified parts, not only prototypes
- DMG MORI LASERTEC or EOS expertise is highly preferred; you know directed energy deposition, wire arc, or powder bed fusion deeply
- You are fluent in API, ASME, and ASTM, qualifying parts to standards such as API 20S under API Q1, with process to ASTM F3187 or F3055 and the ISO ASTM 52900 series
- You understand additive metallurgy, porosity, distortion, residual stress, and microstructure
- You design for additive and hybrid manufacturing, and you know when additive beats machining and when it does not
- You like building capability, and you can grow an additive specialist from an apprentice
- You hold a degree in Materials, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent depth
- Bonus points for oil and gas, repair and remanufacture, or qualifying parts to API 20S
- Fluency in English required
If you build in metal and polymer where machining stops, build it here. Apply.
