Senior Cladding Engineer

Corrosion is patient. Your overlay has to outlast it. You own the clad surfaces that keep equipment sealed for the long haul.

ATMTA is establishing a High Precision Training, Research and Development, and Production Center for the Energy sector. We manufacture mission critical, precision engineered components for the oil and gas industry, built to perform under extreme pressure, temperature, and corrosion where failure is not an option, machined and tested to the highest precision and made intelligent with embedded sensing and AI.

We are hiring a Senior Cladding Engineer, on site in Muscat, to own corrosion resistant weld overlay for the components that cannot be allowed to corrode or fail.

What you’ll do:

Own corrosion resistant cladding in production, from procedure and metallurgy to deposition and qualification.

• Own corrosion resistant alloy (CRA) weld overlay on the sealing surfaces, bores, and faces of valves, wellheads, and other pressure containing oil and gas components, in series production
• Develop and qualify cladding procedures (WPS and PQR) for CMT, MIG, TIG, and laser cladding
• Run and optimize advanced cladding systems, primarily Fronius, and equivalents such as Polysoude, Arc Machines, or Lincoln Electric, including robotic and automated overlay
• Control dilution, bond integrity, and metallurgy of Inconel 625 overlay to ASTM B446 and B443, meeting iron dilution and hardness limits
• Qualify to ASME Section IX and to the CRA overlay requirements of API 6A under API Q1, with sour service to NACE MR0175 (ISO 15156), validated by NDE to ASME Section V
• Drive deposition rate, quality, cost, and cycle time in production, and resolve defects at the root with metallurgy and NDT
• Develop apprentice cladding specialists through structured on the job training, transferring overlay technique, parameter control, and metallurgy
• Define skill milestones and qualify apprentices to competency, building the center's own cladding talent

• You have run weld overlay of corrosion resistant alloys in a production environment, at volume, not just in trials
• Fronius expertise is highly preferred; you know cladding processes deeply and how to control dilution and metallurgy
• You are fluent in ASME, API, and ASTM, qualifying to specific codes such as ASME Section IX and API 6A, with Inconel 625 to ASTM B446 and NACE MR0175 sour service
• You read overlay metallurgy and defects, and you fix the cause, not the symptom
• You have worked with automated and robotic overlay systems and tuned them for quality
• You like building people, and you can grow a skilled cladding specialist from an apprentice
• You hold a degree in Welding, Materials, or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent depth with welding credentials
• Bonus points for oil and gas, valves, wellheads, or Inconel 625 overlay
• Fluency in English required
