Job Description
WSP is seeking a Senior Site Engineer – I&C to ensure that all electrical and instrumentation & control, metering and monitoring system, telecommunication system, cyber security system, fire detection system, and security system installations and activities on the pipeline project, Closed/Open Cycle Gas Turbine Projects, and Sub station Projects meet industry standards, project specifications, and regulatory requirements. This role will conduct inspections, tests, and audits to verify that the construction and installation processes are executed correctly and safely, collaborate with project managers to develop project plans and schedules, ensure milestones are met on time and within budget, and monitor and report project progress to senior management.
Responsibilities- Manage and oversee I&C activities and interfacing from inception to completion.
- Ensure compliance with contract requirements, design specifications, applicable codes and regulatory requirements to ascertain quality and safety.
- Be well versed with the applicable codes, local regulations and industry standards to discharge duties.
- Collaborate with project managers, site staff, engineers, and contractors to develop project plans and schedules.
- Prepare project progress reports, documentation, and as-built drawings for client review and approval.
- Ensure the timely completion of I&C project milestones within the allocated budget.
- Regularly report on project progress to senior management.
- Review site related documentation such as method statements, installation drawings, site testing procedures.
- Review decommissioning studies, feasibility studies and associated risk assessments.
- Review and interpret I&C engineering drawings and specifications.
- Provide technical support during construction activities and resolve issues or discrepancies.
- Collaborate with design teams to review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Address technical queries and provide solutions to challenges encountered during implementation.
- Provide valuable input into the design phase to optimize I&C systems.
- Ensure strict compliance with local codes and regulations.
- Conduct thorough inspections of electrical and I&C installations to ensure compliance with project drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
- Perform testing and commissioning of electrical and I&C systems, including loop checks, function tests, and system performance verification.
- Document and report any non-conformances or defects and follow up on corrective actions.
- Raise NCRs as needed and guide contractors to resolve issues.
- Monitor interfacing issues between contractors and provide heads‑up to avoid rework.
- Investigate and report safety incidents or near misses.
- Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
- Review and verify material and equipment certifications to ensure they meet project requirements and standards.
- Conduct routine audits of subcontractors and suppliers to ensure adherence to quality plans and procedures.
- Maintain accurate and detailed inspection records, reports, and logs.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Participate in safety meetings and provide input on safety issues related to electrical and I&C work.
- Verify that all electrical and I&C installations comply with national and international codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEC).
- Liaise with construction teams, engineering, and other stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
- Provide technical support and guidance to ensure installations meet design and functional requirements.
- Communicate inspection results and quality issues to the QA/QC Manager and relevant project personnel.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical and I&C inspection, preferably within the pipeline or oil & gas industry.
- Proven experience with pipeline project standards and practices on Closed/Open Cycle Gas Turbine Projects and Sub station Projects.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical and I&C systems, including control systems, instrumentation, and electrical equipment.
- Familiarity with industry standards and codes.
