Job Purpose:
The Reservoir Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing the maturation of hydrocarbon reserves and resources in Energy Oman’s subsidiaries. This role focuses on ensuring the effective evaluation, progression and assurance of reserves and resources, including but not limited to, reserve booking and audit, field development plans, technical assurance, business plans reviews and other hydrocarbon maturation related proposals from the subsidiaries. The manager will collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure alignment with the company’s strategic objectives and industry standards.
Responsibilities& Accountabilities:
Reserve and Resource Maturation:
- Responsible for all the reserve and resource volumes of the company and its subsidiaries, including external audit and independent evaluation.
- Responsible for the technical assurance of hydrocarbon reserves and resources.
- Responsible to conduct assessments and updates of reserve and resource estimates as and when required.
- Responsible for identifying opportunities to grow and/or accelerate reserve & resource maturation.
- Responsible to oversee the preparation, review, and approval of field development plans (FDPs)
- Responsible to ensure FDPs comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Responsible to provide technical assurance for all hydrocarbon maturation activities, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices. Where applicable, represent the company in value assurance reviews of the projects as per the company Technical Assurance Framework.
- Responsible to conduct regular reviews and audits of technical processes and methodologies as per the company Technical Assurance Framework
- Responsible for providing reservoir engineering support for new business development opportunities
- Responsible for defining the scope, awarding, and managing external consultancy contracts, while ensuring the successful delivery of projects through third-party contractors.
- Responsible to review and assess business plans and proposals from subsidiaries, providing reservoir engineering and strategic input and recommendations.
- Responsible for providing reservoir engineering input and recommendations to support business decision‑making.
- Responsible for working closely with Asset Management & Planning team to deliver projects related to hydrocarbon maturation and/or new business development, ensuring proper stakeholder management, timely delivery and adherence to budgetary constraints
- Responsible for monitoring projects progress, identifying risks and opportunities, and make appropriate intervention to implement mitigation and solution.
Collaboration:
- Responsible for working closely with subsidiaries, shareholders, joint venture partners, regulators and other stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and collaboration.
- Responsible to participate in technical committees and other external forums to represent the company’s interests.
- Responsible for reviewing and providing technical input on major technical contracts and tenders, providing expert advice on contract negotiations and awards as required.
- Responsible to work closely with the Tender Board Committees to evaluate contractor proposals and bids submitted by EDO subsidiaries.
- Bachelor’s degree in related technical field (preferably in Petroleum engineering) or master’s degree is preferable.
- 12+ years’ experience in the oil and gas industry with focus on HC Exploration, Development and Production
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in estimation and evaluation of reserves, in depth knowledge of SEC and PRMS systems.
- Proven track record in managing HC maturation projects.
- Strong skills in analyzing large datasets efficiently and able to derive insights quickly and integrate with other discipline inputs to form a credible view.
- Strong analytical mindset, ability to deal with sometimes conflicting data on different scales, uncertainties in data and model parameters.
- Project management at knowledge level with commercial mindset.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely verbally and in writing to various stakeholders
