Senior Engineer/Lead – Electrical Design Position Overview

Seeking a Minimum of 15+ years of experience in electrical design engineering for the Power Transmission/Distribution Projects with minimum 6 years in design team lead/Supervisory role. Candidates’ expertise in the design of Indoor GIS and Outdoor Open Terminal electrical substations up to 400kV is preferred. The successful candidate will lead the electrical engineering aspects of substation projects, ensuring compliance with international standards and client requirements while managing complex technical challenges in high-voltage infrastructure development.

• Lead electrical design for substations ranging from distribution level up to 400kV Transmission and Distribution facilities.
• Develop Layout and Scheme design for substations consisting of equipment such as transformers, reactors, circuit breakers, disconnect switches, busbars, Lightning Arrestors, Earthing, and Cables.
• Develop Single-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring diagrams for substation systems.
• Design protection and control systems, including relay coordination and SCADA integration.
• Guide preparation and Review of Cable sizing, Cable routing, Cable schedule and Interconnection schedule for HV, MV, and LV systems.
• Knowledge of Load flow, Short-circuit, Cable sizing, Earthing design and Insulation coordination studies using advanced software tools (ETAP, DIgSILENT, CYME, PSCAD or similar) is desirable.
• Ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, and other relevant international standards.
• Coordinate with civil and structural teams to optimize the plot, equipment layout and overall design.
• Guide designers and CAD/BIM operators for accurate 3D modeling.
• Review Vendor drawings and Specifications for electrical equipment.

• Lead and supervise the team across one or more concurrent Projects.
• Manage multiple substation projects from conceptual design through commissioning.
• Plan and allocate the workload across the team in line with the Project schedules, Monitor Progress against design Milestones
• Defend design basis, assumptions, and compliance to standards in client meetings.
• Review technical specifications, drawings, and construction documents from design contractors.
• Provide technical support to procurement and construction teams.
• Ensure timely delivery of design packages and maintain quality standards.

• Primary electrical design interfaces with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal disciplines (civil/structural, project management, procurement, construction) throughout the project lifecycle.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary interfaces (civil foundations, structural steel/tower design, protection & control, telecom etc.,) to ensure design consistency and clash-free deliverables.
• Support site teams during construction and commissioning with design clarifications, site queries, and as-built drawing review.
• Primarily Office based with Periodic travel to the Project sites.

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering;
  Masters preferred.
• Well-versed in International standards (IEC, IEEE).
