Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Planning Manager to join an Oil & Gas / EPC / Construction organization at its head office in Muscat, Oman. The role requires strong expertise in project planning, scheduling, progress monitoring, risk management, and contractual project controls across major engineering and construction activities.

The ideal candidate should have 15–20 years of experience in Oil & Gas, EPC, heavy construction, fabrication, piping, or mechanical projects. Advanced hands-on proficiency in Primavera P6 is mandatory, along with strong knowledge of construction sequencing, resource planning, earned value management, delay analysis, and contractual claims.

This is a senior planning leadership opportunity offering long-term career growth in Oil & Gas project controls, planning management, schedule risk management, and EPC project execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage baseline, Level 3/4 schedules, look-ahead schedules, and progress tracking.
  • Monitor project progress across engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, QA/QC, and HSE phases.
  • Perform critical path analysis and identify schedule risks.
  • Manage resource loading for manpower and equipment.
  • Prepare and analyze S-curves, histograms, and executive project reports.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to identify and prevent project bottlenecks.
  • Lead schedule risk assessments and delay analysis.
  • Develop catch-up and recovery plans for schedule deviations.
  • Support Extension of Time (EOT) claims and contractual schedule analysis.
  • Facilitate client and consultant progress meetings.
  • Ensure project schedules remain aligned with contractual milestones.
  • Provide planning and project controls guidance to project teams and management.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is essential.
  • 15–20 years of proven experience in Oil & Gas, EPC, or heavy construction environments.
  • Mechanical, EPC, fabrication, or piping project background.
  • Advanced hands-on proficiency in Primavera P6 is mandatory.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Excel and MS Project.
  • Deep understanding of construction sequencing.
  • Strong experience in piping and mechanical fabrication planning.
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • Experience with contractual claim analysis and EOT claims.
  • Strong analytical, leadership, communication, and coordination skills.
