The Senior Engineer Electrical Maintenance is responsible for leading the maintenance, reliability, availability, and performance optimization of all electrical systems across the Copper Concentrator Plant. The role ensures the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of power generation and distribution systems, substations, transformers, switch gear, motors, motor control centers (MCCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), electrical protection systems, UPS systems, emergency power systems, and associated plant equipment through effective maintenance strategies, shutdown planning, reliability improvement initiatives, asset integrity management, and continuous improvement programs.
The position provides technical leadership to maintenance teams, supports operational excellence, and maximizes equipment availability while minimizing lifecycle costs and production losses. The incumbent is responsible for the maintenance and reliability of electrical systems associated with the Primary Crusher, Apron Feeders, Conveyors, Ore Stockpile Stacking and Reclaiming Systems, SAG Mill, Ball Mills, HIG Mill, Flotation Plant, Thickeners, Concentrate Filtration Plant, Slurry Pumps, Process Water Systems, Tailings Systems, and associated plant infrastructure.
The role works closely with Operations, Reliability, Mechanical Maintenance, Instrumentation, Automation, and Project teams to achieve production, safety, reliability, and asset performance objectives while ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and asset management standards.
Lead maintenance activities for electrical systems across the concentrator plant and support infrastructure.
Maintenance experience with 33kV/11kV substations, transformers, switch gear, protection systems, and plant-wide HV/LV distribution networks is mandatory
Ensure maintenance practices support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operation.
Develop and implement maintenance strategies to maximize equipment reliability and availability.
Monitor equipment condition and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
Ensure compliance with OEM recommendations, electrical standards, and statutory requirements.
Support long-term asset lifecycle management and replacement planning.
Provide technical guidance on electrical maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution.
Support commissioning, startup, and ramp-up activities for electrical systems and equipment.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM RELIABILITYLead reliability improvement initiatives for transformers, switch gear, substations, motors, MCCs, VFDs, UPS systems, generators, and power distribution equipment.
Analyze equipment failures and identify opportunities to improve reliability and maintainability.
Conduct Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) for major electrical failures.
Facilitate Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) studies.
Identify recurring equipment issues and implement sustainable corrective actions.
Develop reliability-centered maintenance strategies.
Monitor equipment performance against established reliability and availability KPIs.
Support predictive and condition monitoring programs including thermography, motor testing, partial discharge monitoring, and power quality assessments.
POWER DISTRIBUTION & PROTECTION SYSTEMSEnsure safe and reliable operation of HV and LV power distribution systems.
Maintain substations, transformers, switch gear, protection relays, circuit breakers, and associated electrical infrastructure.
Review protection settings and coordinate electrical protection studies.
Monitor power quality and implement corrective actions where necessary.
Support system load analysis, energy optimization, and electrical efficiency initiatives.
Ensure compliance with electrical safety regulations and industry best practices.
MAINTENANCE PLANNING & EXECUTIONSupport development of annual maintenance plans and budgets for electrical assets.
Review and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
Optimize maintenance frequencies and task scopes based on equipment criticality and performance.
Coordinate maintenance resources for planned and corrective maintenance activities.
Ensure work orders are properly executed, documented, and closed in SAP PM.
Improve maintenance work management processes and effectiveness.
