ZL Group, a global specialty chemicals company serving the oil and gas industry, is seeking a Project Manager to provide technical and project leadership across the full lifecycle of polymer enhanced oil recovery (EOR) injection projects in the GCC - from design, procurement and fabrication through installation, commissioning, start-up and operations. The role leads project execution and HSE on polymer injection units (PIU) and associated facilities, serves as a primary technical point of contact for new and existing GCC clients, and mentors junior engineers and project engineers.
The ideal candidate brings 8-10+ years of project engineering or project management experience in polymer EOR, chemical injection, produced water treatment or oil and gas facility projects, a visible personal commitment to HSE, and a track record of building trusted client relationships. Excellent project reporting and client communication skills, and the mobility to work at project sites across the GCC, are essential.
Key Responsibilities- Lead project engineering for polymer EOR injection projects from award through start-up, including design review, procurement support, fabrication oversight, FAT/SAT, installation, commissioning, start-up and ongoing operations.
- Coordinate engineering partners, vendors and fabrication yards to ensure technical packages meet client specifications and GCC industry requirements.
- Manage interfaces between polymer injection units (PIU), water treatment packages and site civil/utility works.
- Track project schedule, cost and technical risk; resolve issues through structured troubleshooting and root-cause analysis, escalating promptly.
- Demonstrate visible, personal commitment to HSE and promote a strong HSE culture among project teams, contractors and vendors.
- Lead or facilitate risk assessments and management-of-change reviews, and manage closure of review actions, client comments and safety audit findings.
- Ensure designs incorporate appropriate safeguarding philosophies and process safety requirements.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with new and existing GCC clients, acting as a primary technical point of contact on assigned projects.
- Support business development by identifying new opportunities within existing accounts and new client engagements.
- Prepare clear, accurate and timely project reports, and present project status, risks and recommendations to senior management and clients.
- Maintain project documentation, progress trackers and lessons-learned registers in line with client and company governance standards.
- Provide technical input, engineering reviews and clarification responses for polymer EOR proposals and tenders.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers and project engineers through technical training, coaching and on-the-job guidance.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Process, Mechanical or Petroleum Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in project engineering or project management, with direct exposure to polymer EOR, chemical injection, produced water treatment or oil and gas facility projects.
- Demonstrated experience delivering projects from award through design, procurement, fabrication, installation, commissioning and start-up.
- Proven track record of building and sustaining client relationships, including with new GCC clients.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers and project engineers.
- Advanced degree or professional project management certification (e.g., PMP).
- Experience working with GCC operators and clients.
- Industry experience in one or more of: polymer EOR; chemical injection systems and packages; produced water management and water treatment; oilfield chemical applications; process facilities design, fabrication and commissioning; GCC oil and gas project delivery.
- Strong understanding of polymer EOR processes, chemical injection systems and associated production facilities.
- Experience reviewing process design packages and engineering deliverables for injection and water treatment systems.
- Familiarity with engineering standards, process safety practices and risk management programs.
- Strong, demonstrated personal commitment to HSE, with the ability to manage multidisciplinary discussions and drive actions to closure.
