Position: SENIOR AUDITOR

Job Summary

The Senior Internal Auditor is responsible for leading and executing the internal audit function within the organization. This role involves planning, conducting, and reporting on financial, operational, and compliance audits to evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls, identify areas of risk, and provide recommendations for improvement. The Senior Internal Auditor also plays a key role in developing and implementing audit programs, managing audit teams, and collaborating with stakeholders across the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development of audit universe and risk-based annual internal audit plan across entities, activities, and processes within the Group that are auditable and mapped against the Organizational Chart and Trial Balance to ensure completeness.
  • Perform risk assessment activities, identifying key risks across the Group and evaluating them according to potential consequences and likelihood as the basis for the risk-based annual internal audit plan.
  • Assist in designing audit plans through Audit Terms of Reference (TOR) for specific internal audit engagements by identifying audit scope, objectives, key risks, timetables and resource allocation.
  • Develop audit objectives and perform audit engagements from planning (including risk assessment), execution, fieldwork, and reporting in accordance with the Internal Audit Department’s methodologies and International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing, as defined by the annual audit plan or as requested by Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee.
  • Understand and evaluate the business units’ operations and financial performance to identify and assess risks, set KPIs, and drivers aligned with overall strategy.
  • Ensure that developed audit plans/test procedures and review programs appropriately address risks related to the business and keep the audit manager advised of progress.
  • Evaluate the cost-effectiveness and risks of operational processes, activities, policies, and systems.
  • Perform test procedures to verify whether financial and management reports generated by Management Information System are reasonable and represent actual transactions.
  • Identify significant classes of transactions (financial reporting process, sales process, fixed assets, payroll, etc.) and evaluate the organization’s internal controls by assessing the design and performing tests of controls and other procedures, including substantive analytical procedures and tests of details, to provide reasonable assurance on the adequacy and effectiveness of the control environment across functions.
  • Brief audit manager on significant risk issues promptly and assist in the resolution of the issue where appropriate.
  • Analyse audit observations and test results to develop audit findings and value-adding recommendations.
  • Prepare audit reports and ensure observations and recommendations are clear, concise, objective and accurately reflect audit results, supported by complete and fully documented audit evidence and audit work papers.
  • Conduct internal audit meetings with key management personnel to highlight key risks and findings and agree on action plans.
  • Analyse management action plans to ensure that risks will be controlled within the Board’s risk tolerance levels and follow up audit findings to ensure adequacy and timeliness of implementation.
  • Assist in reporting of findings, recommendations and agreed action plans to the Board and Senior Management.
  • Participate in advisory assignments, including consultancy activities such as providing advice on internal controls, risk management, governance issues, reviewing organisational policies, and conducting fraud reviews from investigation to report preparation.
Qualifications
  • At least 5 years of internal audit experience with Big 4 firms or major multinational companies (MNCs). Experience with in a GCC family business environment is an advantage.
  • A university degree and a professional qualification (CPA, CA, ACCA, CIMA, CIA) are mandatory. Additional certifications such as CFE, CISA, or CRMA are an advantage.
