Role Purpose
This position is responsible for owning the end-to-end strategy for Technical Operations tools across Network & Service Operations (NSOC), Wholesale Operations (WSO), Network & Facility Operations (NFO) and other operational support functions. The main roles are:
- Act as the single senior focal point for Operations tooling vision, coherence and long-term sustainability.
- Ensure the Operations tools landscape remains fit-for-purpose, scalable and resilient.
- Drive tools rationalization to eliminate duplication, inefficiencies, and overlapping capabilities.
- Optimize tool-to-process alignment to support efficient and reliable Technical Operations.
- Reduce operational risk caused by fragmented or disintegrated tools strategy.
- Enable cost efficiency through strategic optimization, not transactional purchasing.
- Support management team with clear visibility and insight into the tools ecosystem and draw down tool strategy and roadmap.

- Define and maintain the Operations Tools Strategy covering Technical Operations Departments and support teams.
- Develop a multi-year roadmap aligned with operational maturity and business priorities.
- Ensure tooling strategy supports reliability, availability and operational efficiency.
- Align tools evolution with network complexity and service growth.
- Evaluate emerging operations platforms and technologies relevant to Technical Operations.
- Ensure strategy complements, but does not duplicate, Automation & AIOps initiatives.
- Identify capability gaps and future tooling needs proactively.
- Provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
- Act as the strategic authority for Operations tooling direction.
- Periodically review and refresh the strategy based on operational realities.
- Maintain a complete and accurate inventory of all Operations tools and platforms.
- Identify and eliminate tool duplication and functional overlap.
- Lead rationalization initiatives to simplify the tools landscape.
- Optimize integration and interoperability between tools.
- Reduce operational overhead created by fragmented or siloed tooling.
- Improve operational efficiency through landscape simplification.
- Ensure tools are actively used and deliver measurable operational value.
- Support consolidation initiatives while ensuring service continuity.
- Prevent uncontrolled growth of tools and platforms.
- Drive retirement of obsolete or low-value tools.
- Continuously optimize the landscape as operational needs evolve.
- Ensure Operations tools are architecturally aligned with operational processes and workflows.
- Define high-level integration principles for Operations tooling.
- Assess tools for fitness, scalability, and operational usability.
- Promote consistent data flow and visibility across tools.
- Provide architectural guidance for onboarding new tools or replacing existing ones.
- Reduce reliance on manual workarounds caused by poor tool design.
- Collaborate with IT and other stakeholders without ownership overlap.
- Lead technical evaluation of new Operations tools and platforms.
- Define operational and technical acceptance criteria.
- Assess tools for reliability, supportability and sustainability.
- Provide expert recommendations during sourcing and vendor selection processes.
- Support procurement activities without owning procurement decisions.
- Evaluate vendor roadmaps and long-term platform viability.
- Prevent ad-hoc or vendor-driven tool adoption.
- Act as technical gatekeeper for Operations tooling decisions.
- Ensure tools meet operational security and compliance expectations.
- Maintain visibility of Operations tools OPEX, licenses and subscriptions.
- Identify cost optimization opportunities through rationalization.
- Prevent unnecessary spend due to duplicated or underutilized tools.
- Support leadership team in tooling budget planning.
- Ensure tooling investments deliver clear operational benefits.
- Collaborate with Finance and Procurement without role overlap.
- Promote sustainable and value-driven tooling decisions.
- Provide regular reporting on Operations tools landscape and optimization progress.
- Highlight tooling risks, gaps and improvement opportunities.
- Support internal and external audits related to Operations tools.
- Act as the technical liaison with Operations tool vendors.
- Collaborate closely with domain SMEs and operational teams.
- Interface with Automation & AIOps, Governance and Transformation teams.
- Ensure tooling decisions are documented and traceable.
- Escalate critical tooling risks proactively to senior management.
