This is a full‑time, on‑site role for an IT Support & Infrastructure Technician based in Muscat, Oman. This position combines hands‑on hardware repair, system optimization, and physical network infrastructure maintenance. The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable diagnosing PC hardware failures, optimizing operating systems, and executing the physical installation and cabling of server room equipment.
Responsibilities- PC Repair & System Optimization
Hardware Diagnosis & Repair:
Troubleshoot and repair PCs, laptops, and peripherals. Efficiently replace faulty internal components such as RAM, hard drives (SSDs/HDDs), screens, and power supplies.
System Optimization:
Speed up slow computers by identifying performance bottlenecks, removing viruses/malware, and performing routine system cleanups.
OS Deployment:
Manage clean operating system installations (primarily Windows), handle upgrades, system recoveries, and resolve driver conflicts.
- Physical Infrastructure & Cabling
Hardware Racking & Stacking:
Physically mount, secure, and arrange servers, switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points within network racks.
Network Cabling
:
Run, terminate, and test Ethernet (Cat5e/Cat6) and fiber optic cabling to ensure clean, organized, and functional network closets.
- Testing & Tool Proficiency:
Demonstrate high proficiency with structural tools, including cable testers, crimpers, punch‑down tools, and tone generators to quickly isolate physical connectivity issues.
- Proven experience diagnosing repairing and upgrading PC and laptop hardware components such as RAM, SSDs, screens, and power supplies
- Strong proficiency in Windows OS deployment, malware removal, system optimization, and troubleshooting endpoint software issues.
- Practical experience in data center or server room environments, specifically with racking and stacking equipment like servers, switches, and firewalls.
- Hands‑on experience managing structured cabling, including running, terminating, and testing Ethernet Cat5e and Cat6 cables.
- Expert‑level capability with physical networking tools, including cable crimpers, punch‑down tools, and network cable testers.
- Ability to handle the physical demands of the role, including lifting equipment, working inside network racks, and running cables.
- Ability to work full‑time on‑site in Muscat, Oman.
- Diploma degree in Information Technology, Computer Hardware Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Practical certifications such as CompTIA A+ or CompTIA Network+ are considered an advantage.
