Middle East College (MEC), founded in 2002, is a leading higher education institution in the Sultanate of Oman. Located in Knowledge Oasis Muscat, the country’s flagship technology park, MEC offers a vibrant and innovative campus with modern infrastructure. We are seeking an experienced and visionary Head of Technology to lead the technology function for our institution, based in Muscat. This role sits at the intersection of education, technology, and innovation — responsible for shaping and delivering digital solutions that are firmly grounded in sound educational practice.

This role oversees the design, implementation, and maintenance of ,Software core IT systems and infrastructure, ensuring reliability, security, and alignment with institutional priorities. The position involves developing and executing IT strategies, optimizing operational processes, managing budgets and resources, and guiding cross-functional teams to support academic and administrative activities.

• Strong foundation in Information Technology, with experience overseeing enterprise-wide technology environments.
• Translate educational requirements into practical, scalable technical solutions in partnership with academic and senior leadership.
• Design and drive technology solutions that are aligned with — and actively support — the institution's educational approach and teaching philosophy, with coordination with senior leadership.
• Coordinate cross-functional activities for the implementation of technology initiatives, ensuring smooth rollout and adoption across departments and campus stakeholders.
• Oversee data governance and cybersecurity, ensuring student, staff, and institutional data is managed, stored, and protected in line with best practice and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Manage relationships with technology vendors, partners, and consultants to ensure delivery quality and value for money.

Proven experience in a senior technology leadership role, ideally within an educational institution or closely related environment.

Strong understanding of the education domain — academic operations, learning management systems, and how technology supports pedagogy.

Demonstrated experience in solutioning and solution architecture, with the ability to align technical design with institutional goals and educational philosophy.

Practical knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and Large Language Models (LLMs), including their real-world application in an educational context.

Solid experience managing and developing technical teams.

Strong grounding in data management, data protection, and cybersecurity principles. Excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional coordination skills, with the ability to lead implementation activities involving multiple departments.

• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and decision-making abilities.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; a Master's degree is an advantage.

Willingness to be based in Muscat, Oman.
