A Lab Chemist is responsible for conducting chemical analysis, testing materials, and ensuring quality control in laboratory operations. The role involves performing experiments, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards. The Lab Chemist plays a key role in supporting production, research, and quality assurance processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform chemical analysis and laboratory testing on raw materials, intermediate products, and finished goods
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis using standard laboratory techniques
  • Operate and maintain laboratory instruments such as spectrometers, chromatographs, and analyzers
  • Prepare chemical solutions, reagents, and samples for testing
  • Record, analyze, and interpret test results accurately
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety standards, procedures, and regulations
  • Monitor product quality and report deviations or non-conformities
  • Assist in research and development activities and process improvements
  • Maintain proper documentation, test reports, and lab records
  • Calibrate and validate laboratory equipment regularly
  • Follow environmental and waste disposal guidelines
  • Coordinate with production, quality, and technical teams for testing requirements
Qualifications &

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, or related field
  • Minimum 2–5 years of experience in laboratory testing or chemical analysis
  • Experience in industrial, manufacturing, oil & gas, or pharmaceutical labs preferred
Skills Required:
  • Strong knowledge of chemical analysis techniques and laboratory procedures
  • Familiarity with instruments like GC, HPLC, UV Spectrophotometer, etc.
  • Good understanding of quality control and assurance processes
  • Knowledge of safety standards and chemical handling procedures
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in reporting
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office, Lab software)
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities
