- Define and maintain the master taxonomy and species reference list aligned with globally accepted nomenclature.
- Establish classification rules for all biological observations: species identification confidence levels, synonymy resolution, threat categories, conservation status, endemism flags, and invasive species flags.
- Develop and maintain habitat and ecosystem classification schemes consistent with international standards.
- Define the full set of biodiversity indicators: formulas, units, data sources, baseline values, and target thresholds, aligned with regulatory bodies entities are committed with.
- Review and validate AI-assisted classification outputs (camera trap, acoustic, eDNA) before data enters official system records; set minimum confidence thresholds for AI-assisted identifications.
- Map each national and international reporting obligation to specific BDMS data fields, indicators, and report templates; maintain a compliance matrix covering CBD, GBF, IPBES, Ramsar, CITES, and CMS.
- Review all draft reports and dashboard outputs before official publication or submission to ensure scientific accuracy, integrity, and appropriate interpretation.
- Supervise ground-truth dataset preparation and labelling quality for AI/ML model training; contribute to model evaluation reports documenting precision, recall, and limitations.
- Develop and maintain the BDMS Scientific Standards Manual covering field collection protocols, identification criteria, data validation rules, and quality tiers.
- Provide training and guidance to field data collectors on observation protocols, recording standards, and BDMS data-entry tools.
