Job Purpose:
The Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, implementing, and supporting secure, reliable, and scalable software solutions that support the Bank's digital services and business operations.
He/She develops high-quality software applications, contributes to the delivery of technology initiatives, supports production systems, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure solutions meet business, technical, security, and operational requirements.
The Software Engineer contributes to engineering excellence by following established software development standards, embracing continuous learning, and supporting the delivery of innovative technology solutions that enhance the Bank's digital transformation journey.
Key Accountabilities:
- Develops, tests, implements, and maintains software applications and technology solutions in accordance with business requirements, architectural standards, and development best practices.
- Delivers assigned software development activities within agreed timelines while proactively identifying, communicating, and mitigating delivery risks and technical issues.
- Produces technical documentation, solution designs, and implementation documentation to support software development, maintenance, and knowledge sharing.
- Develops secure, scalable, maintainable, and reusable application components that comply with the Bank's software engineering standards and coding practices.
- Performs unit testing, integration testing, debugging, defect resolution, and code optimization to ensure software quality and application reliability.
- Participates in code reviews, technical discussions, and peer collaboration to improve software quality, knowledge sharing, and engineering consistency.
- Supports application deployment, production releases, monitoring, and post-implementation activities to ensure stable and reliable production environments.
- Monitors application performance, system logs, operational alerts, and production incidents, supporting timely issue resolution and continuous service improvement.
- Collaborates with business users, quality assurance teams, solution architects, infrastructure teams, and other technology functions to deliver integrated technology solutions.
- Develops and supports application programming interfaces (APIs), system integrations, and modern software services that enable efficient business processes and digital capabilities.
- Applies secure software development practices by adhering to information security standards, data protection requirements, secure coding principles, and vulnerability management practices.
- Contributes to the development and support of Artificial Intelligence-enabled features, automation capabilities, and intelligent digital solutions in accordance with established governance and engineering standards.
- Maintains accurate technical documentation, operational procedures, and software artefacts to support application lifecycle management and operational continuity.
- Continuously enhances technical knowledge, adopts emerging technologies, and contributes to improving software engineering practices, development processes, and team capabilities.
- Ensures compliance with the Bank's technology policies, information security standards, regulatory requirements, and software engineering governance frameworks.
- Performs any other responsibilities consistent with the scope of the role, as assigned by the line manager.
Qualifications and
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline. Equivalent practical experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 4 years of professional software development experience, including experience supporting or developing production applications.
- Experience developing software applications using one or more modern programming languages such as Python, Java, Go, Type Script, Dart, or similar technologies.
- Experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs, system integrations, and modern software applications.
- Working knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC), version control systems, automated testing, and code review practices.
- Experience working with relational databases, SQL, application debugging, and software troubleshooting techniques.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containerization technologies, cloud platforms, or managed application environments is preferred.
- Knowledge of secure software development practices, application security principles, and information security standards.
- Exposure to Artificial Intelligence, intelligent automation, or machine learning technologies is considered an advantage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and continuous learning skills.
