SMS group is an industrial equipment manufacturer for the steel industry. We design, build, and service equipment and plants across the globe with a strong technical services/machine shop network in North America.

• Be a safety-minded person who enjoys hands-on work.
• Assemble and disassemble various components.
• Document daily activities.
• Possess good mechanical skills in daily operations.
• Perform cleaning, grinding, painting, and related tasks to buildings, equipment, components, and subassemblies.
• Clean up, remove trash, coolant, oil, scrap, chips, etc.
• Be courteous and work well with others.
• Complete Maintenance Request Forms for items in the work area in need of repair.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment, upholding a world-class standard of housekeeping.
• Work with a safety-conscious attitude and report unsafe acts or areas to members of management.

• Good mechanical skills.
• Good working knowledge of mechanical tools.
• Basic shop math and other necessary functions.
• Blueprint reading and interpretation of drawings.
• Know how to lift equipment safely, locate disconnect switches, perform daily crane inspections, load and unload trucks, and stage equipment.
• Operate a forklift safely, load and unload, refuel, and perform daily forklift inspections.
• Basic computer skills.
• Work from bills of material, purchasing lists, shipping documents, and parts/shop supplies.
• Self-motivation to identify, analyze, and independently find solutions to flow issues.
• Ability to learn and understand critical processes and operations in assigned areas.
• Resourcefulness in accomplishing objectives and completing tasks.
