Job Description Position Summary

The Mold Technician will report to the Shift Supervisor and will ensure production operates within quality standards. The role includes supervisory tasks such as designating packers/handlers and coordinating with the shift supervisor to operate, troubleshoot, document, and communicate on all equipment that is not performing within specifications.

Key Functions & Responsibilities
  • Set up machines for operation, change material and color to meet production schedules.
  • Maintain a technical understanding of processes and raw materials.
  • Keep supervisor/management informed of all problems.
  • Start up machines and monitor quality at start‑up.
  • Make appropriate adjustments to machines to maintain efficient production levels and document appropriately.
  • Respond to QA Techs by adjusting machines to maintain appropriate sizes and standards.
  • Oversee proper packaging procedures.
  • Review production schedules and ensure machines are running to meet customer demands.
  • Respond to alarms and requests for assistance to correct machine malfunctions and/or Packer/Handler problems.
  • Use proper lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance and Maintenance Departments concerning machine operations and malfunctions.
  • Inspect scrap to prevent any usable product from being ground and record scrap numbers.
  • Perform packer/handler duties to assist with relief breaks.
  • Assist with material handling and keep the floor stocked with required materials.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and uphold quality and housekeeping standards.
Managerial / Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Cover for the supervisor in his absence.
  • Train employees; plan, assign, and direct work; address complaints and resolve problems with the supervisor.
Required Experience, Skills, & Abilities
  • Extensive knowledge of injection molding machinery and processes, including mold set‑ups, troubleshooting, and maintenance exposure.
  • Ability to maintain efficient production levels in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Proficiency in identifying alpha/numeric product codes.
  • Knowledge of mechanical inspection techniques and practices.

  • Read and comprehend complex, detailed instructions and correspondence.
  • Write simple correspondence.
  • Apply common sense to carry out detailed written or verbal instructions.
