In this role you’ll work with parents, host families, faith communities, and community partners all to assist, strengthen, and support the family.
Safe Families for Children is a faith‑motivated, community‑based program designed to provide support to socially isolated parents facing crisis. You’ll join a small‑but‑mighty team that serves in the Quad Cities area. We are looking to fill an open position in the southeastern area of Iowa. The ideal candidate will already be located here with established community relationships.
Core Responsibilities- Collaborate with organizational leadership to implement the mission and philosophy of Safe Families.
- Ensure quality and adherence to professional standards.
- Inspire, motivate, and develop volunteers and leaders who embody a culture of excellence and innovation.
- Build partnerships with faith communities to recruit and support volunteers.
- Coordinate with church leaders to sustain a strong volunteer base and resource network.
- Maintain communication to encourage engagement and ongoing connections post‑hosting.
- Deliver positive outcomes for families and children through effective service management.
- Help oversee intake and ensure proper host placements and support.
- Help ensure children are hosted in appropriate homes, monitored according to policies, and host families/volunteers receive the support needed.
- Lead volunteer recruitment, training, and engagement across all roles.
- Uphold a culture that values volunteers and recognizes their contributions.
- Oversee screening, training decisions, and resolve volunteer‑related challenges.
- Promote community awareness and partnerships to expand referral networks.
- Build relationships with agencies and child welfare staff to strengthen collaboration and support.
- Required:
Bachelor's degree in a related field;
Social Work, Psychology, Education, Nursing, etc. - 3+ years of professional work or related experience.
- Demonstrated skill in public relations/public speaking, networking, recruitment and training, and administration/organization.
- Self‑starter, organized, autonomous, and assertive.
- Must provide own transportation.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds and climb stairs.
- Experience working with at‑risk youth and families.
- Experience recruiting, training, and mobilizing large groups of volunteers.
- Experience collaborating with local faith communities.
