Overview
Responsible for assisting underserved students with entering and remaining in postsecondary education, as well as increase the knowledge of and participation in dual enrollment and participation in Career & Technical Education. Provide high school students with information about career opportunities in Alabama and the level of education and skills required to be successful in various career field.
This position is not eligible for tenure/non-probational status.
Responsibilities- Recruit 9 – 12 graders to participate in the “College Bound” Program.
- Provide individualized and group career advising, including career exploration, resume and cover letter preparation, interview coaching, and job search strategies.
- Assist students in creating personalized career plans, senior exit plans and portfolios. Provide details about different career paths and the education needed, especially focusing on career technical programs.
- Use Lightcast’s Career coach assessments to match students with suitable careers based on their strengths and interests. Assist students in creating and uploading their resumes for better opportunities.
- Notify students of acceptance into the “College Bound” Program.
- Provide opportunities for job shadowing, mentoring, internships, and visits to businesses.
- Introduce high school students to academic and Career and Technical Education (CTE) dual enrollment opportunities.
- Assist “College Bound” students with applying and registering for dual enrollment classes.
- Aid students in moving from high school to college or the workforce.
- Connect educationally disadvantaged youth to “bridge programs” that teach basic academic skills in the context of training for advancement to better jobs and postsecondary education.
- Create and share a schedule of events and activities with college and high school staff.
- Collaborate with business and industry partners to identify career prospects within the state. Build networks that can provide meaningful opportunities for students.
- Monitor and track student progress from registration to program completion, and beyond, maintaining accurate records of outcomes.
- Collect and share student success stories to highlight program impact.
- Assist with planning college events for “College Bound” Students.
- Help maintain accurate and up-to-date information on all participants in the College Bound Program.
- Attend and support recruitment events, K-12 school visits, and workforce development activities to strengthen outreach and visibility.
- Create and maintain a College Bound Program newsletter and other communication tools to share updates with students, high school partners, and NWSCC faculty and staff.
- Prepare required reports.
- Travel and meet with students at K-12 schools as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, required.
- Experience working with high school or college students, preferred.

SalarySALARY:
Compensation is in accordance with the Alabama Community College System’s Salary Schedule E3 ($39,759 – $62,710).
