- Emergency Department-PRN
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, performs basic patient care activities and unit support tasks to promote safe, efficient care and patient throughput. Provides assistance with activities of daily living and routine monitoring, maintains a clean and stocked environment, and supports nursing/physician staff. Reports to the Director or Manager of Department. FLSA:
Non-Exempt.
Neonate, Infant, Early Childhood, Late Childhood, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, Older Adult.
Protected Health Information Accessed:Demographic, Clinical, Insurance, Financial, Complete Medical Record.
Exposure:Occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens may be present.
Physical Requirements (typical):Frequent standing, walking, reaching, keyboard entry, repetitive movements, kneeling, lifting/moving patients; occasional sitting and squatting; rare running or climbing. Vision near/far and depth perception frequent/constant; color distinction frequent. Occasional exposure to biohazardous waste, chemicals, gases/vapors/fumes; latex exposure frequent.
Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesEducation:
High School diploma preferred.
License:SRNA or EMT preferred.
Certifications:- Education:
Associate’s Degree Preferred;
Graduate of a Program in Discipline; validated by current state licensure - Licenses:
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-P) - Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire;
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 30 days of hire;
Pediatric Advanced Life - Support (PALS) or Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals (PEPP) within 6 months of hire date
- Handle with Care to be received within 30 days of orientation and kept annually
- Required Skills:
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
