SummaryLoads, unloads, moves materials, and fills containers within the plant. This role involves a variety of duties including handling hazardous waste, operating forklifts, producing bleach, and maintaining safe handling procedures.
Responsibilities- Read work orders or follow oral instructions to determine which materials or containers to move.
- Use a forklift truck to load and unload materials onto or from trucks.
- Load and unload tank trucks.
- Convey materials from storage or work sites to designated areas.
- Responsible for bleach production.
- Produce liquid soda ash and/or hypochlorite, including drums of sodium hypochlorite.
- Operate industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
- Perform daily forklift inspections, light maintenance, and housekeeping in work areas.
- Follow safety equipment and procedures.
- Generate, handle, and inspect hazardous waste and hazardous waste storage.
- Respond to hazardous waste spills and incidents per site emergency action or contingency plan.
- Prepare and manage hazardous waste records such as manifests, inspection logs, and waste determination reports.

Qualifications- High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
- Mathematical skills: add, subtract, multiply, divide, compute rate, ratio, percent, and interpret bar graphs.
- Reasoning ability: apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions and solve problems involving several concrete variables.
- Other qualifications: ability to operate forklift truck and other mechanical equipment.
The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms; frequently stand, walk, and talk or hear; occasionally sit, climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work environments involve near moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, high precarious places, and risk of electrical shock and vibration. Noise levels are usually loud.
